Finally.

Finally, finally internet access has returned to me.

What an interminable wait! ARrrhghh...this stupid technology vice! I'm so addicted.

But, now I am in fabulous Hot Springs, South Dakota...it's a really nice area. I'll have pictures up soon.

Yesterday I opened the door and a bunch of crickets tried to fly in...and yesterday was 70 degrees, today it was 96 degrees, tomorrow's supposed to be 70...reminds me of home, sorta. Only cuh-razier. It also rained for like two seconds. Niiiiiiice.

I love the way it smells in this part of the country. It's very...dusty-pine-tree-sweet, if that makes any sense. You know, fresh air. I wish it could be bottled as a scent, it's so great. I know they make incense that's like the desert...why not like the dusty plains or the Black Hills? Huh???

Anyway. Haven't really gotten the chance to explore the town much yet, hopefully I'll have a bike soon so I can wander a bit more easily.

The job is nice, too, so far...I mean, kind of your average tourist attraction ticket and gift shop sales, but I'll start touring soon and also get to work in the bonebed and the fossil prep lab. I think I can put up with a bunch of cashiering if I get to talk about or work on fossils all the rest of the day. Yay, mammoths. Just in case anybody cares, here's some info on the Mammoth Site:

http://www.mammothsite.com

Uh, ground control to major Tom?

It's been a while since I've updated this thing. I figure one is in order. I'm officially DONE with college...gots me my shiny uber-expensive piece of paper, which I'll be paying for with my soul...and now I'm off to sunny Hot Springs, South Dakota. Time to lead tours and dig/preserve mammoth bones. Leaving Sunday, August 27th (that's technically tomorrow) and returning November 19th.

I don't know if I'm more excited or nervous. I guess kind of both. I won't have a car, since a 30 hour drive in MY car (possessed as it is by Ammet, Eater of Souls) to South Dakota would be both tiresome for me and probably finally destroy the damn thing. So I'll be walking around this town, unless I can finagle a bike somehow. I guess it won't be so bad, but I'd better bring a jacket XD;;

Packing. Packing and reading material for the job. At least now there's something for me to go and do, besides school...especially at this time of year. I kinda miss UMass...and this internship job thing is a paid position. Woohoo. Paid housing, utilities, tv/internet too. Pretty nice. Anyway I can't wait.

More later.

Hooo it's been a while since I last wrote. So I'm still alive.

My dog, Toby, had to have surgery today. As of this writing he is staying there overnight. His testicles were so infected they had to be removed in the vet emergency room...it wasn't pretty. I'll just say...it involved some missing skin. Bob Barker knows what he's talking about when he says to get your pet spayed or neutered...it's important for health reasons...

So I'm hoping that he pulls through okay, since he is also diabetic and blind...poor old guy. He still has energy, but man that infection looked like it was hurting him, and it could've been caused by more than his prior urinary tract infection from the diabetes...but, the odds are more for the latter.

So that's that. On a completely different note I made a quiz today:

Which Led Zeppelin band member are you?

...inspired greatly by The Song Remains the Same, the movie. Docu-movie. Thing.

So, it's blizzarding, and I'm just waiting until Tuesday so I can drive back to UMass. That's the deal on this end....things have been interesting to say the least! Jeeez...

I need to travel more within the states.

So I'm going out with Ben tonight, and some friends--to view the epic work of cinema that is Van Helsing. Eehhh!! But it's spent in most excellent company, and besides, how bad can the movie be? (read: pretty damn bad)...but that's the fun of it :)

One more week of class, then finals, then I am home free. Woohoo!

Lalala...I'm bored. I'm lazy. But at least I'm not sleeping so damn much anymore. Urg, I hate doing that.

Anyway, look!

You are a Hobbit! Care free, and fun loving. You
can be the life of the party when you aren't
being too annoying. You enjoy good days, and
lazy days, and the comapny of your
friends. There is a bit of heroic streak in you,
but it only comes out in the most dire of
circumstances. Usually you are content to let
others who are more well equipped handle the
situation.

What would you be in The Lord of the Rings?
brought to you by Quizilla

Yay I knew it. Sam kicks everyone's ass anyway. :)

So laa...not much else to say. Oh, today my molar was coronated. Long live. I just finished Dark Tower II, it's pretty okay, it's like watching a Western set in a Dali painting. I like it so far though, I would say. Lalelalaa...bored now. Going to see about food. Bye.
